Nowadays Wednesday: Cripping The Rave - Accessibility in Nightlife (Nowadays, NY,  2021)

A conversation about accessibility and nightlife, presented by Crip Rave and REMOTE ACCESS. Crip Rave is a Toronto-based collective showcasing Crip, Disabled, Deaf, Mad, and Sick body-minds within safer & more accessible rave spaces.

Co-founders Renee Dumaresque and Stefana Fratila will be joined by media artist Yo-Yo Lin, who will share her experiences organizing and VJing REMOTE ACCESS parties, a disability-centric nightlife series that uses remote configurations to cultivate joy and crip intimacy.

A rectangular poster with a solid green background. At the top, the words "Cripping The Rave: Accessibility in Nightlife,” in all-caps appear in black letters over a solid light green stripe. In the center is a fuzzy image of two pale hands making an unclear ASL sign. At the bottom, over a solid light green stripe, appears "Nov. 17, smiley face symbol, Nowadays, Wednesday, open at 4, program at 8."

Accessibility note: There is a ramp at the side entrance (on the driveway to the left of the main entrance) and one accessible gender-neutral bathroom. Seating is on couches, chairs, and stepped risers. Non-alcoholic beverages and food are available for purchase. Water is always free. The nearest accessible subway station is the Myrtle-Wyckoff J/M. The event will include ASL interpretation. Please email hello@nowadays.nyc with any accessibility needs.
